Macl and Mission Self Advocacy Group statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Did you know that over one billion people around the world live with some form of disability and having a disability puts you in the world\u2019s largest minority group?<\/p>\n

If your answer is \u201cno\u201d, perhaps it is because for every person with a visible disability, there are approximately four people with an invisible one.<\/p>\n

Every year on December 3rd, people around the world celebrate contributions of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

First declared by the United Nations in 1992, the\u00a0International Day of Persons with Disabilities<\/a>\u00a0(IDPD) draws attention to the many ways in which people with disabilities enrich our communities, our country and our world.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme is \u201cNot all Disabilities are Visible\u201d. It is important to remember that not all disabilities look the same. It\u2019s important for us to realize that disabilities go beyond one\u2019s appearance and not jump to conclusions someone\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Today, and every day, let\u2019s be patient. Let\u2019s treat others with kindness and stand up for others when they may need our help.<\/p>\n
